How to track your parcel to Europe

Updated , 3 min read

Your haul just shipped, you paste the number into DHL and… nothing. Don't panic, that's completely normal for Europe. Here's how tracking actually works and where to look at each step.

How shipping to Europe works

Almost every EU line (JDY, ZLS, HSD, GTI and the express lines) uses triangular shipping. Your parcel flies from China to a hub in Europe, clears customs there, and only then gets handed to a local carrier like DHL, PostNL, DPD or GLS for the last stretch.

That's why the local carrier knows nothing about your parcel for the first week or so. They simply don't have it yet. Until the handover, the shipping line's own tracking is the only place with updates.

How long it takes

  • 7–10 days from shipping until your parcel is at customs in Europe
  • About 2 days after customs to get to the carrier's hub in Germany
  • Then 0–5 days to your door: Germany is next day, Slovakia, Czechia, Poland or Austria take 2–3 days, further countries 3–5

All in, that's roughly 12–18 days door to door, sometimes a bit more around holidays or when customs is busy.

Step 1: Track with the line's number

Once your agent ships, you get an international tracking number on your parcel's page. Paste it into the QC Finder parcel tracker. It checks every shipping line at once, shows where your parcel is right now and counts down the days until it gets home.

Give it a name like Jordans + hoodies and save it. It stays on your device, no account needed.

Step 2: Wait for the local number

For the first week or so, DHL, PostNL or DPD won't find anything. That's how triangular shipping works, not a problem with your parcel.

After customs, the line hands your parcel over and a local tracking number appears in its tracking. Our tracker picks it up automatically and gives you a direct link to the carrier. From then on, the carrier's own site has the most detail, like delivery time slots or pickup points.

Step 3: Delivery

The local carrier delivers it like any other parcel. If you miss it, it usually goes to a nearby pickup point or locker, so keep an eye on the carrier's messages.

When to contact your agent

  • No info 2–3 days after shipping: normal. New numbers take a day or two to show up.
  • No updates for a week while in the air: also normal, lines only scan at a few points.
  • Stuck at customs for over 10 days, or still no local number 3 weeks after shipping: open a ticket with your agent. They can chase the shipping line for you.

Shipping with GTI Europe? It runs its own tracking system that our tracker can't read yet. Check it on GTI's tracking page instead.
